Proposal Kit Professional Help
Proposal Kit Professional
Q: What is different between Windows, Mac & Linux?
A: All of the Proposal Kit material is cross-platform compatible and identical on Windows, Mac and Linux computers. The only difference is the Windows download is packaged in an executable installer that creates some extra shortcut icons on your Desktop and the Mac and Linux download is packaged as a compressed ZIP file. Since the Proposal Kit materials are documents, Acrobat PDF files and HTML pages, how they look and open is entirely dependent on your own word processor and web browser.
Q: How do I get started using my Proposal Kit Pro?
A: "Proposal Kit Professional" is a bundle of many products that cover contract writing, proposal writing, project management and cost estimating. All of these products are installed into a common folder and can be accessed with a single Desktop Organizer. The material is organized by each major category (contracts, proposals, sample proposals, project management and cost estimates) and within each of those major categories the material is further organized. Start by familiarizing yourself with where all of the material is located by using the Desktop Organizer and also browsing through the install folders.
Q: What is the Desktop Organizer used for?
A: The Desktop Organizer is a mini web site on your computer that organizes all of the Proposal Kit documents, samples, manuals and other help information. It gives you fast access to all of the documents organized by categories. Each Proposal Kit document has its own page in the organizer with a button to open it and extra information, including links to other alternate and related documents. The organizer is in the install folder on your computer and starts with OpenProposalKitPro. On Windows, look on your Desktop for the blue and white box icon titled "Open Proposal Kit Professional".
Q: What if I deleted the Desktop icon?
A: You can also click your Windows "Start" menu, click "All Programs", click "Proposal Kit Professional" then click the "Open Proposal Kit Professional" entry. You can also browse to the install folder using My Computer, which is c:\ProposalKit\Pro_v# and double click the file that is titled "OpenProposalKitPro". This will open the "Proposal Kit Professional" Desktop Organizer in your web browser.
Q: Where do I find the editable proposal templates?
A: All of the Proposal Kit's proposal material is contained under the install folder. This is c:\ProposalKit\Pro_v#\ProposalPack for Windows (as long as you did not change the default install folder), or wherever you uncompressed the ZIP file for Mac and Linux. There are 4 collections of proposal templates included. Look in the Documents subfolders of these 4 collections to find all of the editable proposal documents. Each of the Documents subfolders contains thousands of editable documents. Using the Desktop Organizer is an alternate way to browse and open your documents.

Your "Proposal Kit Professional" includes the 4 most commonly used "Proposal Packs" already ("Proposal Pack for Any Business", "Classic #1", "Global #1" and "for Government Grants"). Most people either drop in their own graphics and logos into these "Proposal Packs" or they get an extra skin that has a color scheme and logo design that compliments their own company logo and colors.
