How to write my Cost Analysis document

Use this template to describe your process for analyzing the expenses for project or your rationale for making an investment. Note that Proposal Pack also contains Cost Summary and Cost Benefit Analysis templates for your use. Overview Summarize the proposed project or investment here and then introduce the concept of cost analysis. Assumptions Explain any assumptions you are using within your analysis. For example if you are proposing manufacturing process an assumption might be that component costs will remain stable for the next five years. If you are proposing an investment an assumption might be that interest rates on savings accounts will not rise by more than 1% in any given year.

Direct Costs Describe direct costs for your project or investment. These include the costs for all goods and services that will be used for the project or investment. You may want to present this information in table format. Be sure to provide details about whether costs are ongoing and if ongoing present the time periods that apply monthly yearly etc. as well as the totals. Indirect Costs Describe indirect costs—sometimes called "overhead" —for your project or investment. These include the costs for supervisory personnel time utilities transportation bookkeeping financial fees security and so forth—costs that are ongoing for your organization but will increase after taking on the project or making the investment. You may want to present this information in table format. Be sure to provide details about whether costs are ongoing and if ongoing present the time periods that apply monthly yearly etc. as well as the totals.
