Walkway and Flooring Material
Granite is best for walkways and flooring because of its durability, and many beautiful colors and patterns are mined locally and can therefore be transported economically.
Countertop Material
Marble is the most striking of all materials for countertop, and like granite, is mined locally and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.
Exterior Walls and Entry Gate Material
Naturally rounded river rock will be used for these structures. Colors are muted beige, grays, blues, and greens. Rocks will be set in neutral beige-colored cement, and walls will be topped with granite slabs.
Grand Fireplace
The fireplace that will dominate the central lobby will be constructed of river rock and topped with a mantelpiece of granite. Standard Disclaimer. The numbers represented above are to be used as an estimate for the projects discussed. The above Estimate in no way constitutes a warranty of final price.
Estimates are subject to change if project specifications are changed or if costs for outsourced services change before being locked in by a binding contract. Simon George Masonry uses the following billing process. 1/3 down on signing contra We must have these funds in hand before work begins so that we can order supplies and schedule our masons.
1/3 due at contract midpoint This date will be determined in consultation with the general contractor. 1/3 due on completion All remaining funds are due within 30 days after our portion of the project is complete. We know that we must coordinate our masonry work on site with other contractors on this project. In most cases, it’s best that all structural work and carpentry is done before we begin our masonry work.
To prepare the site for our masonry work, the following steps must be taken. All bathroom and buffet fixtures and permanent office counters must be placed and leveled before countertops and floors can be installed and completed With all counters and other fixtures in place, we can efficiently measure, cut, and install our custom countertops as quickly as possible. All outdoor walkway and patio areas must be protected from extreme temperatures and free of workmen and materials To lay a marble walkway or patio, we must first rope off the area, then mark out the perimeter and depending on materials lay down a subsurface such as sand or concrete. We then cut and arrange pieces, which can be delicate work and may take several days before we can finally cement every piece in place.
Extreme hot or cold conditions may cause delays as the cement will not set correctly under these conditions. All indoor floors must be level and free of workmen and materials Depending on type of flooring desired, subfloors will either be plywood or finished concrete. Depending on size of the area and the type of flooring to be installed, we will need free access to the area for several days, during which time no other workers can be allowed into the area. All outdoor wall areas must be protected from extreme temperatures and free of workmen and materials If a wall area is sufficiently distant from other areas of active construction, we can build a wall as other work progresses.
Extreme hot or cold conditions may cause delays as the cement will not set correctly under these conditions. Materials must be delivered and stored Needless to say, river rock, granite, and marble are all very heavy and bulky. So we must have a large area adjacent to our work area where we can stack our materials.
In addition, we need space for our garbage and recycle bins. We want to work as efficiently as possible. Please include us in all scheduling discussions for this project so our expert craftsmen will be on hand when you need them.
At Simon George Masonry, we believe in leaving a clean worksite at all times. This is important for safety as well as for esthetics. We also subscribe to recycling whenever possible. We have contracted with stone and brick recycling companies, who buy in bulk from us and use our leftovers to create beautiful tiles and bricks for future projects.
We pledge to adhere to the following cleanup schedule on this project. All masonry materials and tools will be secured each day before leaving This means our work area will be swept and left free of bits of stone or tile, and all tools will be securely locked in storage bins. All excess materials trim ends or broken bits of rock, stone, or brick, etc. will be placed in recycle bins each day before leaving We separate our recyclable materials from our garbage so that we can easily deliver our recyclables to our partner recycling companies each week. Any broken tools or saws will be placed in garbage bins each day before leaving We repair tools and sharpen saw blades whenever we can, but our projects cause us to use and discard multiple saw blades and other tool parts each day.
These will wrapped or bagged if necessary to protect from sharp edges, and placed in garbage bins. All our recycle and garbage bins will be emptied each week We empty recycle and garbage bins each Tuesday and cart all contents to the appropriate processing stations. Recycle and garbage bins will be removed at the end of the masonry project We will remove all our containers at the end of our masonry contract with you.
All that we leave behind is beautiful stone work. If there’s ever any issue with our workmen leaving a site in an unsatisfactory condition, we want to hear about it. Please call our office and let us know so we can rectify the situation as soon as possible.
